1. Acceptance

Food Info is operated by DCPNET LTD, a company registered in England & Wales (No. 15734157), at 30 Vane Close, Norwich NR7 0US, United Kingdom. By accessing the site you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

2. The service

Food Info is a free reference tool that lets you search public food-composition databases and view nutrition information per serving. We currently surface data from the United States Department of Agriculture's FoodData Central and from McCance & Widdowson's Composition of Foods Integrated Dataset (CoFID) published by OHID / UKHSA under the Open Government Licence v3.0. The data shown is sourced from those datasets; we present it but do not author or warrant it.

We may add, change or remove features at any time, and we may take the service offline for maintenance, updates or for any other reason. We aim to give notice of significant changes where reasonably possible.

3. Not medical or dietary advice; not a medical device

Information on Food Info is for general reference only and is not a substitute for professional medical, dietary or nutritional advice. Reference Intake / Daily Value percentages are based on either the UK Reference Intakes (Regulation 1169/2011) or the FDA's 2016 Daily Values depending on your region, and do not account for individual circumstances, conditions, allergies, medications or pregnancy. Always consult a qualified clinician or registered dietitian before making decisions about your diet or health.

Food Info is not a medical device within the meaning of the UK Medical Devices Regulations 2002 (as amended). It is a nutrition reference tool. The intended purpose is to display public food-composition data and to support general food choices. It is not intended to diagnose, prevent, monitor, predict, prognosticate, treat or alleviate any disease or injury, and it must not be used as the sole or primary basis for any clinical decision.

AI meal-plan output shown on the Pro tier is generated by a large language model and may contain factual errors, hallucinated foods or incorrect quantities. The "Avoid" field is a hint to the model, not an allergen filter, you remain responsible for cross-checking every ingredient against your own allergens, intolerances and medications before eating any food the model suggests.

3a. Practitioner tier, clinical-use restriction

If you have subscribed to the Practitioner tier and use Food Info in the course of your professional practice (whether as a registered dietitian, nutritionist, personal trainer or other professional), you additionally agree that:

• You will not use Food Info as your sole or primary clinical-decision- support tool. Food Info is reference material, not a clinical-decision-support system.
• You will verify all data and AI-generated content against the professional reference sources you ordinarily rely on before relying on it for any clinical decision concerning a client.
• You will keep the Food Info "Reference only, not medical or dietary advice" disclaimer visible on any client-facing material (such as branded PDF reports or white-label widget embeds) produced from the service.
• You will indemnify and hold harmless DCPNET LTD against any claim arising from the use of Food Info by you or your clients beyond reference purposes.

The Practitioner click-through agreement on signup re-iterates these terms and you must accept them before the tier is activated.

4. Your account

• The free, anonymous browse of nutrient data is open to anyone. Creating a free account adds personal features (synced diary, search history). Free accounts are intended for users aged 13 and over, in line with industry practice for online services that store personal data; we reserve the right to suspend any account we have reasonable grounds to believe was created by a child under 13.
• Paid plans, AI credit packs and Practitioner-tier access require you to be 18 or older, because minors cannot validly enter paid contracts under English consumer law. The Stripe checkout step confirms your acceptance of these Terms.
• You're responsible for keeping your password confidential and for activity under your account.
• You must give us accurate registration details and keep them up to date.
• You may close your account at any time from your account settings or by contacting us. Account deletion cancels any active subscription, removes your stored data, and is processed within 30 days. See the Privacy Policy for the data-retention detail.
• We may suspend or terminate accounts that abuse the service, attempt to compromise security, or breach these Terms.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Scrape, mass-download or systematically extract data from the site for commercial redistribution.
• Probe, scan or test the vulnerability of the site or its infrastructure without our written permission.
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to other users' accounts or to non-public parts of the system.
• Use the service to transmit unlawful, harmful, harassing, defamatory or infringing content.
• Use automated tools to create accounts or to interact with the service at a rate that degrades it for others.

The underlying USDA FoodData Central data is in the public domain and freely available from fdc.nal.usda.gov.

6. Intellectual property

The Food Info name, logo, site design, code (other than the open-source components listed separately), copy, and visual assets are owned by DCPNET LTD and protected by copyright and other intellectual-property laws. You may link to Food Info and reference data from it for personal, non-commercial use, but please don't reproduce the styled output as if it were your own.

The USDA FoodData Central data set itself is in the public domain in the United States.

7. Disclaimer and limits on liability

Your statutory rights as a consumer are preserved. Nothing in these Terms restricts your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, including the rights to digital content that is of satisfactory quality, fit for the particular purpose we have described, and supplied with reasonable care and skill. Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability that cannot be limited or excluded under English law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or for fraudulent misrepresentation.

Subject to the paragraph above, the service is provided "as is". We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that the data displayed is up to date or free of mistakes.

If you are a consumer (i.e. you are using Food Info wholly or mainly for purposes outside your trade, business, craft or profession), our total aggregate liability arising out of or in connection with the service is limited to the greater of (i) the amount you have paid us in the twelve (12) months immediately before the event giving rise to the claim, or (ii) £100. We will not be liable to you for loss of profits, loss of opportunity, or any indirect or consequential loss.

If you are a business customer (i.e. acting in the course of your trade, business, craft or profession, including any Practitioner-tier customer using Food Info in their practice), our total aggregate liability is capped at £50.

8. Termination

You can stop using the service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms or if we are required to by law. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (intellectual property, disclaimers, liability, governing law) will do so.

9. Changes

We may revise these Terms from time to time. We'll update the "Last updated" date and, for material changes, post a notice on the home page for at least 30 days. Continued use after changes take effect counts as acceptance.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes, save that consumers resident elsewhere in the UK retain the protections of mandatory local consumer law.
